Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Pedulli, operated by Francesco Pedulli, Forli, Italy. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
1. The service
Pedulli provides lossless data compression and decompression and a witness-gated exact verifier, via an in-browser trial and a REST API. Our only substantiated claims are: (a) a byte-exact lossless roundtrip with a "+1 byte never-worse" floor on Pedulli's own output - this is a guarantee about our own output size, not a claim of beating every other codec on every input; (b) it is a best-of-N racer including xz, zstd and brotli that wins on specific structured data classes and concedes losses on others; (c) an exact verifier that checks supplied witnesses. We make no past-Shannon, "universal solver", or absolute-security claims.
2. Accounts and API keys
You are responsible for keeping your password and API key confidential. API keys are scoped to your account; do not embed them in server-side code or share them publicly. We may rotate or revoke a key if we detect abuse. You must provide accurate information and be of legal age to contract.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not use the service for unlawful content or to infringe others' rights.
- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the protected runtime or engine internals.
- Do not exceed documented rate limits, circumvent quotas, or run automated abuse.
- Do not represent Pedulli's results beyond what is stated here (e.g. as "unbreakable" or "past Shannon").
4. Plans, billing and refunds
The free tier requires no card. Pro is EUR49/month or EUR468/year; token top-ups are one-time purchases (EUR5 / EUR20 / EUR100 / EUR500) and tokens do not expire. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; you may cancel anytime and retain access until the end of the paid period. EU consumers have statutory withdrawal rights where applicable; contact us for refund requests. Prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated.
5. Your content
You retain all rights to files you submit. You grant us only the limited right to process them to provide the service. Sub-1 MiB browser trials are processed locally and not uploaded. Server-side upload sessions are deleted within 6 hours.
6. Service availability
The service is provided on an "as available" basis. During the public launch window, throughput and large-file processing may be rate-limited. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
7. Warranty disclaimer
Except for the byte-exact restore behavior described in section 1, the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, nor any specific compression ratio on your particular data. We make no absolute-security or fitness guarantees beyond those expressly stated.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your unlawful use of the service or your breach of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by Italian law, with the courts of Forli, Italy having jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
11. Changes
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date will change and material updates will be highlighted. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
